Quetzalcoatlus northropi(juvenile), the largest flying animal that ever lived. Discovered in Big Bend National Park in 1971, this flying reptile had a wingspan in excess of 40 feet. The scientific name is a combination of ancient and modern symbols of flight, honoring the fabled Aztec plumed serpent god Quetzalcoatl and aircraft designer John Northrop.

Please note: This model is not scientifically accurate, several mistakes were made in the proportions of the model and will be corrected in a life-size adult that will be completed fall 2005.
